Double Choco Chip Muffins

"Burst of chocolate , is always a good beginning"

The rainy weather setting pushed me and my best friend to kick start the blog we have been meaning to write for a while. That sounds slightly off, okay so thats what really happened: the weather pushed me and I then literally pushed my friend to get his lazy bum off the couch to help me. Nevertheless, the outcome was that we had a beautiful dozen of sky high double chocolate choco chip muffins !

We added enough fats to the recipe to make the muffins moist and rich. Did the mixing just to the perfect level so that they are soft and tender. The perfect puffy domes that came out are a result of the right amount of leavening agents. So in a nutshell, we together or rather more me than we baked the crispy, soft , tender and choco chip loaded muffins !

Lets talk Baking Science

  • Prep Time: 15 mins​
  • Bake Time: 20 mins​
  • Yield: 12 Regular Size Muffins
  • 1 2/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 6 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder​
  • 1/3 cup melted butter​
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 6 tbsp hot water​
  • 2 medium size eggs​
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract​
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda​
  • 2 tsp baking powder​
  • 2 medium size eggs​
  • 3/4 cup plain greek yogurt​
  • 1 cup mix choco chips​


1. In a large bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar. 


2. In a small bowl, combine the cocoa powder and hot water. Mix well, so that no lumps are left behind. You should get a shiny cocoa liquid.


3. Combine the cocoa mix with the butter sugar mixture . Mix well.


4. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture till all the ingredients are  well combined together.


5. In a separate medium bowl combine the flour, baking powder and baking soda and stir them well.


6. Mix your dry mixture with the wet mixtures in batches , alternating with greek yogurt. Mix well, but be careful not to overdo it as it will add air to your batter.


7. Outcome of all the mixing should be a lumpy batter which is perfect for the muffins. Fold in half of the chocolate chips.


8. Pre-heat oven to 180 degree Celsius. Meanwhile paper line or grease 12 muffin moulds. Spoon batter into the cups till 3/4th full. Sprinkle the remaining choco chips on tops. 


9. Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean ( which should be the state around more or less 20 minutes ). Let cool for 5 minutes and then enjoy them warm . Don't forget to take pictures !
